Week 2 Recap
The Dirty Birds are making the Super Bowl. Kidding (I hope not), but seriously, this team just put up one of their best defensive performances in a long time. Atlanta won 22-6 against Minnesota, and for the Falcons it was a defensively dominant statement win. I only have good things to say about the game on Sunday, so let’s get into it.

THE GOOD
Everything about the defense was gorgeous. Fantastic playcalling by DC Jeff Ulbrich, every single defensive rookie making a definitive impact, veterans and second-years making their own statements, everything. James Pierce Jr. and Jalon Walker both recorded their first career sacks in the NFL. Xavier Watts and Billy Bowman Jr. both recorded their first career INTs in the NFL. All of the rookies made their splash, but it wasn’t just them. Second years like Brandon Dorlus and veteran Leonard Floyd also recorded a sack in this game.
Bijan Robinson played fantastically again. He was the brightest spot in the offense this Sunday, having 168 yards in total. He was one of the only guys getting us down the field, and the ball was fed to him for a majority of the time that the offense was on the field. Tyler Allgeier also had himself a game, recording 80 yards and the only touchdown of the night. Our RBs are something special, and you should keep expecting them to deliver.
Michael Penix Jr. once again played pretty well, 0 turnovers and 135 yards. The ball kept getting fed to Bijan, so he didn’t really see much action this week.
Parker Romo is the new kicker in the big A. He went 5/5 in FGs, with his longest being a 54 yarder. The Younghoe Koo era is over, and I can’t say that I’m too upset about it anymore.. Koo will be missed though.
The WR and TE room had an okay day, notably with Drake London recording 49 yards in 3 receptions and Kyle Pitts recording 37 yards in 4 receptions. They were just okay. Not their fault, as Penix was limited on throwing the ball.

THE MID
The offensive play calling wasn’t.. The best. Some of those field goals that Romo made should’ve been touchdowns. Penix didn’t throw any deep balls to his talented receivers. In fact, he hardly threw the ball at all. We still won the game, but the offense just wasn’t explosive. Something has to change soon with the coaching, but for now, this is fine. We just need to work on it a little bit.

All in all, a win is a win. Our defense is going to be legit. If we can keep winning games like this, we can easily have a spot in the playoffs. Next week against CAR we have to prove that we can win easy games. It’ll show that we aren’t the same old Falcons, and that we are a team to be scared of.
Until next time, #RiseUp!
