WEEK 3 RECAP

Stunned. I am absolutely stunned and disgusted about the performance this team put up on Sunday against a bottom-6 team, the Carolina Panthers. The Atlanta Falcons lost 30-0 to CAR. No one looked good. Offense was terrible, defense was terrible. There was no good, or even mid. It was all bad.

WHAT WENT WRONG?

There’s two things here that I can pinpoint. Coaching, and Penix himself. Offensive playcalling this season has been absolutely horrible from Zac Robinson. The Falcons have been running the pistol far too many times, and they’ve just been making bad calls in general. Raheem Morris isn’t free of critique either. How do you POSSIBLY manage to get a Delay of Game flag off of a TIMEOUT?? He’s shown time and time again that he’s terrible at time management. He’s a good locker room guy, but he is terrible on the field. This is his last year with the Falcons (if they somehow make the playoffs, it’s a different story though).

Penix also looked terrible. He made some awful throws (including two picks, one of which being returned for a touchdown), and just seemed like he was out of his game. He could not get anything done. This could be blamed on playcalling, but he still made mistakes. It’s his first bad game, so I’m not giving up on him yet, but this needs to change.

This team looked terrible. I don’t have anything else to say whatsoever. Next week is a must win game.
